The Swartz Report: It’s Time To Give Thanks

Hard to believe it’s almost time for the holiday season. The saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun” couldn’t ring more true this year as personal and business opportunities consumed the year. My previous blogs have mentioned several of the trips I’ve taken throughout 2016 and I take great pride and joy in sharing them with you.

We approach this holiday season with a new political landscape that few, if any, of us have ever witnessed or experienced…and everyone seems to have strong opinions slanting in one direction or another. I’d like to again take time to focus on the things I’m thankful for, especially in light of the recent election results.

Instead of focusing on the recent election results, I’d like to take some time to highlight a few of the things I’m thankful for:

I’m thankful for our country, where democracy reigns and individuals have a say at the local, state and federal levels. We shouldn’t forget what our forefathers (and mothers) established…and all that our current military does…to protect our freedoms. Especially our right to vote. We should never take this act for granted.

I’m thankful for my friends, neighbors, co-workers, and clients. I’m lucky to have a diverse group of people in my life, ranging from very conservative to extremely liberal. While I may not agree with certain political perspectives, understanding various points of view and “agreeing to disagree” is healthy and allows for thoughtful dialogue and perspective.

thanksMost importantly, I’m thankful for my family.  They’re available and ready with unconditional support, whether it be financial, emotional, educational or otherwise. I embrace their imperfections and their perfections…and I KNOW they embrace my imperfections!

Speaking of imperfections…

Not any longer! For the past year, we’ve been looking at improving our database so we can reduce our paper content, allow multiple users and be more efficient when we’re at work.

So far, so good. But we’re just getting started. Streamlining our invoicing, allowing client login, and creating more reports all are on the horizon.

Investing in technology has never been more important in our consulting world and we’ve made great strides internally during 2016. I’m excited about the opportunities to continue to build-out the database and allow our clients even greater access to information in 2017 and beyond. (A big shout out to Cory Lafferty for his guidance on this project!)

Have a wonderful holiday season!
